Polish painter, born April 24, 1873 in Poraj and died in the 14th arrondissement of Paris on February 2, 1951. Wladimir Georges ( Włodzimierz Jerzy ) is the son of Paul de Terlikowski and Marie Jielinska. Born into a noble family in the Warsaw region, Wladimir de Terlikowski discovered the artistic world through his many travels. Following brief studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and in the Parisian studio of Jean-Paul Laurens, his first works close to Fauvism are noted by the Bernheim gallery. Terlikowski settled in Montparnasse where he was a contemporary of Amedeo Modigliani, Chaïm Soutine, Pablo Picasso, André Derain and Maurice de Vlaminck. His technique is recognizable by his use of the palette knife and has been compared to the work of Paul Cézanne and Auguste Renoir.
